The Curly Magpie Wonderful Shop is a joyful treasure trove of locally made finds and thoughtful gifts.

Our shelves are filled with beautiful greeting cards, unique presents, local honey, Hampstead Tea and Mr Fitzpatrick’s cordials, alongside much-loved classics such as Cornishware and The English Soap Company.

You’ll also discover a lovely collection of kitchenware, stationery, books and journals, as well as haberdashery supplies, including a great selection of wool for makers and crafters. A carefully chosen range of wonderful local traders bring their handmade items into the shop, keeping it vibrant and interesting all year round and making it the perfect place to find a truly unique and wonderful gift.

In 2025, we proudly celebrated ten years on the High Street and purchased our forever home, The Curly Magpie Wonderful Shop. Looking ahead to 2026, an exciting new creative workshop space will open upstairs – a place where inspiration and creativity are always waiting.

Where are we?

You will find The Curly Magpie Wonderful Shop on the High Street in the market town of Swadlincote, Derbyshire within the heart of the beautiful National Forest.

Incorporating the towns of Burton upon Trent in Staffordshire and Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire, the National Forest embraces 200 square miles of the Midlands and with it’s beautiful rolling countryside and varied industrial history and is fast becoming a popular area for tourists.
